11 Ideas To Create Openness and Authenticity In Your Group
At Re:Group we cast vision for Group Leaders to Model Authenticity in our Community Groups.
Until we remove our masks and are honest about who we really are, we will never experienced true community.
In our panel, we shared some ideas about how to create openness and authenticity in your group.
Here are some of the ideas we shared and more. Which one of these will you try with your group?
11 Ideas to Create Authenticity in Group
During Your Meetings
1. One-on-One Instead of Group Meeting:
Take 1 week to replace a regular meeting with one-on-one one connections with your prayer partners.
2. Men's and Women's Nights:
Schedule men's and women's only weeks in place of your mixed gender meetings...for a smaller more intimate atmosphere where people may be more open.
3. Subgroup:
Split into smaller groups of 2 or 3 for discussion and prayer time.
4. Whole Night Prayer Time:
Take a break from group discussion and just share life updates, prayer requests, and have an extended time of prayer.
5. Share Your Stories:
Take a break from normal group discussions to have everyone share their stories.
6. Be Open As A Leader:
Be honest about the struggles in your life you've been hesitant to share. Be willing to confess your own sin and ask for accountability.
7. Remind Against Advice Giving:
Remind group that prayer time is not time to give advice. We are hear to listen, pray, and encourage. Advice is best shared outside of the group meeting, one-on-one, and when requested.
8. Ask These Questions in Prayer Time:
What are you and God talking about this week?
What are you wrestling with this week?
What’s been the biggest thought you can’t shake this week?
Outside of Your Meetings
9. Divvy Up Roster Among Leaders:
Split up your group roster between co-leaders for weekly texts and prayer so you can connect deeper relationally.
10. Prayer Partner Connections:
Assign Prayer Partners for weekly connections outside of group (texting, calling, coffee).
11. All-Day Gatherings or Weekend Retreats:
Schedule an all-day gathering or weekend retreat. Time in the car and eating together will bond you closer together like nothing else.
