Why You Should Form A Party Planning Committee In Your Group

Hi Community Group Leaders,

As you head into our Community Groups break, plan your Spring Group trimester, and think toward this summer, here is a reminder...

The point of Community Group is not meetings, it's relationships.

While our groups meetings are on break the next 2 weeks, that doesn't mean relationships stop.

As Group Leaders we may feel a tension, "I don't have time to connect with all of my Community Group members."

The good news, the role of Community Group Leaders is not to have close relationships with everyone in our group, but to help our group members cultivate relationships with each other.

So how do we do that?

Here is 1 simple idea:

Form a Party Planning Committee!!

If you have every seen "The Office", you know they like to plan parties...

Just because you are Group Leader, doesn't mean you need to manage the Community Group schedule.

Identify 1 or 2 people in your Community Group who are organized or creative, and invite them be to organize your Community Group Calendar.

Here are a few things they can do...

Party Planning Committee Job Description:

  1. Put Together the Trimester Volunteer Schedule

    • Hosting, Snack, Facilitation, Childcare

  2. Plan Group Socials

    • At least 1 social a trimester

    • 1 social each month during the summer months

    • Holidays parties

    • Mens or Women's Outings

    • Serving Projects

  3. Celebrate Bdays and Anniversaries

    • Collect everyones big days.

    • Celebrate other big accomplishments (graduation, babies, weddings, baptism, life decisions, retirement)

    • Celebrats with texts, cards, balloons, cake, treats, or even a special party...

  4. Care Followup

    • Is Someone sick or in the hospital? Did they just have a baby? Are they going through a divorce? Did they lose a family member?

    • Organize childcare, meals, financial donations, and sympathy cards.

Community Groups exist to help a large church become a family.

When you celebrate together and cry together, God will bond your hearts more closely than ever before.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. - Galatians 6:2

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. - Galatians 6:9-10
