Module 4 - Keeping up with People
In this module, we are going to introduce three tools that can be helpful for you. These are tags, following, and bookmarking attributes. Then we’ll show you examples of how these can be powerful tools for ministry!
1) Tags are a way of temporarily keeping track of people without creating lists or groups of them. You can utilize organizational tags, which group people with official tags used by everyone, or you can use personal tags, which only you can see and use. You can use organizational tags, but you cannot create them. But you can create as many personal tags for your own tracking that you like.
Watch this brief video about using tags.
You may remember briefly discussing tags back in Module 2. Feel free to review the guide to statuses that we’ve created, which will explain some important organizational tags we’ve set up.
2) Following people allows you to receive notifications about a group of people. You can receive notifications about upcoming birthdays and anniversaries, next steps they’ve taken, etc. You might follow those in your community group or others at Northridge you are investing in.
Watch this brief video about following people.
3) If there are special attributes about a person that you frequently edit or want to keep an eye on, you can bookmark those attributes so they always appear at the top of a person’s attributes section. Start dreaming about what kind of metrics and attributes you want to track about the people you minister to and we can start to build them in so we can go further faster!
Watch this brief video about bookmarking attributes.
4) So far you’ve seen how to update details and attributes for individual people. There is a way to update a group of people. This feature is called a bulk update.
Watch this brief video about using bulk updates.
5) Please set aside 10-15 minutes to try using tags, following, and bookmarks.
6) Create a personal tag on someone in the system (feel free to tag members of the Oakenshield family or your own family so it is easier to find and remove them later). Practice removing the tags and deleting the tag completely.
7) Start following members of your household, community group, and/or others you interact with regularly. Check your Following settings and set them up as you’d like.
8) Find and bookmark an attribute. If you can’t think of an attribute to bookmark that’s relevant to your ministry, you can try adding a person’s First Visit as a bookmarked attribute (it’s under Visit Information > First Visit).
9) Complete the survey below to confirm that you have completed Module 4.
