Module 5 - Caring for People

In this module, we are going to share a few ways we can use Rock to care well for the people of Northridge.

1) First is the Favorites section of a person’s profile. Here we can share a person’s favorites (coffee, candy, snacks, etc) so we can celebrate and encourage our volunteers with treats and gifts that match their preferences.

Watch this brief video about using tags.

2) Take a minute and update the Favorites section for each member of your own family.

3) If you have Favorites information for your volunteer teams or others from our church, could you please set aside 15-20 minutes to update that information in Rock?

This helps in two ways. First, it makes that information accessible for all our staff and leadership. Second, it means one less separate sheet or document - you can store this information right in Rock moving forward.

2) Following people allows you to receive notifications about a group of people. You can receive notifications about upcoming birthdays and anniversaries, next steps they’ve taken, etc. You might follow those in your community group or others at Northridge you are investing in.

Watch this brief video about following people.

3) If there are special attributes about a person that you frequently edit or want to keep an eye on, you can bookmark those attributes so they always appear at the top of a person’s attributes section. Start dreaming about what kind of metrics and attributes you want to track about the people you minister to and we can start to build them in so we can go further faster!

Watch this brief video about bookmarking attributes.

4) So far you’ve seen how to update details and attributes for individual people. There is a way to update a group of people. This feature is called a bulk update.

Watch this brief video about using bulk updates.

5) Please set aside 10-15 minutes to try using tags, following, and bookmarks.

6) Create a personal tag on someone in the system (feel free to tag members of the Oakenshield family or your own family so it is easier to find and remove them later). Practice removing the tags and deleting the tag completely.

7) Start following members of your household, community group, and/or others you interact with regularly. Check your Following settings and set them up as you’d like.

8) Find and bookmark an attribute. If you can’t think of an attribute to bookmark that’s relevant to your ministry, you can try adding a person’s First Visit as a bookmarked attribute (it’s under Visit Information > First Visit).

9) Complete the survey below to confirm that you have completed Module 4.
