Baptism: Mary Buck
Mary always believed in God and grew up going to church every week, but the message of Christ never sunk in. Her college years led her down a destructive lifestyle that included drinking, premarital sex, and a constant chasing for affirmation in all the wrong places.
After ending a long-term relationship she’d thought was leading to marriage, Mary didn’t know who she was anymore. She felt hopeless, wandering through life feeling like she didn’t have a purpose.
Mary decided to seek help through counseling and realized that she wanted to explore her faith more. She started attending Northridge and joined a Community Group where she started to learn about the Gospel.
Her journey included spiritual warfare and shame about her sinful lifestyle but through it she found Jesus. One night, she felt His unexplainable presence and peace; in that moment she called out to him. She finally understood the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection.
Mary feels overwhelmed and humbled by the continued grace of God in her life and is so excited to be baptized and proclaim this faith publicly.
