Beyond Stories: Compassion International
Our church family cares deeply about strengthening families, ending poverty, and seeking justice. We have outreach partners in Rochester and across the world that equip God’s people to make Jesus known and one of those partners is Compassion International.
One of the reasons we love partnering with Compassion International is the way they invest in children and families through the local church! We want to see children protected and families supported so they can flourish in God’s original design. When support and encouragement come from the church, it strengthens local congregations and gives Jesus the glory!
Sometimes it can be hard to find your place in coming alongside others. For over 100 families at Northridge, coming alongside the global church has been possible through sponsorship. On our side of the ocean, this looks like sending support, prayers, and even letters to a child who is a part of a local church with a Compassion program. Thankfully, on the other side of the ocean, churches invite all children in the church and local area into their programming, with or without a sponsor, so that the whole community can benefit equitably.
The impact is outstanding! As one sponsored child, Abraham, said, his sponsor is “always telling me about the love of God,” and this is making him “want to be good for Jesus.” Another sponsored child said that when she hears her sponsor say that she loves her, “it gives me more strength to fight, to live, and to continue.”

As you sponsor over the years, you can see the talents and passions that God has given your child to grow and unfold! For one child named Olive, her physical needs and medical care needs for her tuberculosis were very significant. After receiving love and support through her local church’s Compassion program, Olive has found her calling as a social worker in Georgia, helping behaviorally challenged children overcome their obstacles!
