KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of July 4th

Happy 4th of July!!! Summer is here and we are excited to kick off a new series in ALL of our environments! This summer everyone from 2 year olds to adults will be studying the Fruit of the Spirit on Sunday mornings.

Preschool: The fruit of the spirit can be shown through our actions in our everyday lives! They are supposed to be lived out in what we are saying, doing, thinking, and can be applied in almost every situation. Spend some time at home helping your children understand that the fruit of the spirit is not actual fruit, but it is how we are living our lives for the Lord and what actions they can be taking to show the fruit of the spirit.

Elementary: As adults we can understand that the fruit of the spirit is not actual fruit. For a kid it might be hard to understand that the fruit of the spirit are traits that a growing Christian should be possessing. Showing your child, the fruit of the spirit by your actions is the most important way to teach them the fruit of the Spirit.

Each summer, we offer some type of challenge to help kids use this break from school to spend time in God’s Word. This summer we are excited to offer an opportunity for families to further study God’s Word together. Each week, we will provide a devotional that adults can use to dig deeper into our study from Sunday. In addition, there are questions to discuss as a family as well as a sheet that kids an use to study the passage themselves. The sheet walks kids through the S.O.A.P. method (Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer). You can find the sheet here:

We are thrilled to be able to partner with you and your child as you grow together in this series!  Over the next few weeks, we will be providing resources and conversation topics as well as ways that you can live out an example of the fruits of the Spirit for your kids. We encourage you to talk with your families about how you can live out the fruit of the spirit! Here is an encouraging article to read to help you with this unit and exampling and modeling the fruit of the Spirit to your kids: https://www.gominno.com/parents/teach-your-kids-the-fruit-of-the-spirit-as-you-grow-in-them-too/
