KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of July 11th

We hope you all enjoyed the first week of our summer series, Marked By, our study on the Fruit of the Spirit. This summer everyone from 2 year olds to adults will be studying the Fruit of the Spirit on Sunday mornings.

This summer we are excited to offer an opportunity for families to further study God’s Word together. Each week, we will provide a devotional that adults can use to dig deeper into our study from Sunday. In addition, there are questions to discuss as a family as well as a fun sheet that kids an use to study the passage themselves. The sheet walks kids through the S.O.A.P. method. You can find the sheet here:

The S.O.A.P. method is a simple and memorable method for examining God’s Word. This can be used with any passage and all you need is your Bible, a writing utensil and a piece of paper or a journal. Simply follow these steps…

  • SCRIPTURE—Choose a verse or a passage to read. A good place to start is to use the passage listed on the back of the devotional page (see above) that applies to this week’s lesson.

  • OBSERVATION—Write down interesting facts or points you see in this Scripture. This is a great place to ask some who, what, when, where, why questions.

  • APPLICATION—Ask yourself, “How does this apply to my life?” For younger kids ask, “What will you do today because of what you read?” Let them fill in the blank, “I Will __________ today.”

  • PRAYER—Ask God to help you. Kids can write out a simple prayer to God or use that spot to list out the things they are praying for.

Check our our weekly resources below! Have a great week!
