KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of March 28th

Happy Palm Sunday! All of our kids environments are learning about Palm Sunday today. Palm Sunday is the Sunday prior to Easter and marks the beginning of Jesus last days before his crucifixion and resurrection. This holiday commemorates the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while all the people gathered to praise Him. He entered Jerusalem knowing what was about to happen to him…He would be arrested and crucified on a cross for our sins. Then he would defeat sin and death by raising from the dead three days later! What an amazing act of love!

All of our kids will be heading home with a special Easter activity today that will help us to focus on those last days of Jesus’ life, His death and resurrection. These activities are designed to help you as a parent lead your kids in a fun, play centered activity that will help engage their minds and prepare their hearts to celebrate Easter. There are 5 activities that you can do throughout this next week.

  • PRESCHOOL— Preschoolers will receive a “Resurrection Box". Inside the bag you will find a card detailing what to do each day. Each activity will require you to read a few verses to your kids, follow the pictures using the items found in the box and discuss a simple question.

  • ELEMENTARY—Elementary kids will receive a “Last Week Legos” card. This card gives families a passage to read, a suggestion of something to create with Legos, Duplos or whatever you can find and then a question to discuss as a family. We would LOVE to see your kids creations! Send us a picture of your child’s creation (KidsMin@northridgerochester.com) OR post it on our Facebook or Instagram pages using the #LastWeekLegos. One family will be randomly selected to win a $50 gift card to Radio Social!

Here are a few more quick reminders:

  • Beechwood Blossoms Giving Project: Our current giving project for kids will benefit 411 Ministries Beechwood, one of our Beyond partners that helps to strengthen families and end poverty in our city. They planted the 441 Beechwood Community Garden to help provide fresh produce in the neighborhood and to create a place to build community. The garden has 31 raised plots for growing fruits and veggies and works to share food with those in need in the community! Let’s help the Beechwood Garden by raising $500 for soil and seeds this SPRING!

  • Parent & Child Dedication is an opportunity for parents to publicly recognize their children are a gift from God and to dedicate themselves to Christ-centered parenting. If you are interested in registering for Parent & Child Dedication on Sunday, April 25th, sign up here. The deadline for registering is April 11th.

  • Online families: If you are interested in signing your elementary kids up for online small groups for the month of April or if your kids are currently participating and would like to continue next month, please fill out this form.

Check out this week’s resources below! Thanks for partnering with us!

Preschool Resources

Bible Story: The Donkey and the King: The Triumphal Entry

Big Idea: God is big, strong, amazing, and wonderful! He made you and gave you everything you have. Give it all back to God to worship Him. Show how much you love Him! In this unit, we'll talk about Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and look at how kids can use anything—like palm leaves—to worship God.

Step 1: Watch the video with your preschoolers.

Step 2: Review with your kids.

Ask your kids: How can you worship God? (I give God all of me!)

Step 3: Practice the Memory Verse with your preschoolers.

Memory Verse: “Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before Him singing with joy...” Psalm 100:2 NLT

Step 4: Print the Adventure Guide to use with your preschooler throughout the week.
