Baptism: Chris Smith

Chris grew up in the church with his family but never understood the why of it. After getting married he and his wife decided they wanted God in their life. They were invited to Northridge by a couple of close friends, and getting the welcome was so eye-opening. Seeing the community gave them comfort, and they felt at home and like they were beginning to understand the sermons.

Hearing Drew talk about the gospel being the greatest news ever gave Chris the strength to pursue it. He understands that he’s still a work in progress, but at the end of the day, God still has a plan for him, and Chris wants to do his best to uphold this plan.

God has changed his life greatly. He felt his worry and anxiety go away. He no longer feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. One example of this was back in May of 2020 when his second son was born in the midst of a major move in his life. It was one of those moments where he needed to lean on God and continue praying and God showed him a way through it.

Despite having all these changes happen during COVID, he could see his perspective change as he realized he didn’t have to go through all of that alone but instead put his faith in God.
