Baptism: Catherine Laurie
Catherine grew up in a Christian home. She lived the normal Christian life of church, Sunday school, and various activities but it never felt like her faith.
Growing up she battled mental health and depression. Instead of turning towards Christ, she fell into the deep hole of sexual sin in order to find fulfillment and even contemplated if she wanted to live anymore. This left her feeling broken and hurt and she found herself hiding behind it.
She’d go to church every Sunday like a good Christian would, but found she wouldn’t live for Christ throughout the rest of the week. During this low point in her life, she found herself sad, ashamed, and depressed.
One day, she couldn’t hold back during a conversation with a friend. Catherine let everything that was on her mind pour out to her friend. She was ashamed but felt healed. It was then she realized she needed to be saved. She needed God in her life and she believes this was his way of showing her that.
She went to church the following Sunday and realized God needed to be number one in her life. It wasn’t going to be easy, but she knew he was walking through it with her.
Knowing Christ has changed her identity for the better. Her identity is forever in him, no longer in the mistakes she’s made. It’s not easy, but she has faith in Christ and she has God.
