Baptism: Martha Fischer

Martha describes always having a hot-and-cold, rollercoaster relationship with God, feeling close with him at times, but at others feeling like he didn’t even know she existed. Bouncing around to different churches throughout the years, she never quite felt she’d had the right answer.

She’d set out to disprove faith and the church, angry with God after her father passed away in her 20s. What became a formative time in her life, her pursuit to prove something wrong with the church brought her to the opposite understanding- that Jesus was real and there for her.

As a “type A” personality, Martha is still on the journey of giving up control in the areas of her life that she likes to try to control. She continues to grow daily as a Christian, and she recently became so strongly convicted that even after all these years of being a Christian, she needed to follow through with baptism to share her faith story publicly.
