KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of August 1st

It’s hard to believe that it is already the beginning of August! This summer seems to be flying by! We have loved watching our entire church body learn about the Fruit of the Spirit this summer. We hope that this has helped you to have meaningful conversations with your kids about each fruit of the spirit. Don’t forget to utilize our summer devotionals to keep the conversation going all week long. We have attached the devotional below. One side features the same devotional that our adults can sign up for. Use this with your older kids or paraphrase the devotional with your younger kids. There are multiple discussion questions that are great for engaging your kids in conversations about each Fruit of the Spirit. The other side of the sheet walks kids through the S.O.A.P. method so that they can learn a simple method for studying ANY passage of Scripture. Use the Scripture passage on the front of the sheet and then follow these steps…

  • SCRIPTURE—Choose a verse or a passage to read. A good place to start is to use the passage listed on the back of the devotional page (see above) that applies to this week’s lesson.

  • OBSERVATION—Write down interesting facts or points you see in this Scripture. This is a great place to ask some who, what, when, where, why questions.

  • APPLICATION—Ask yourself, “How does this apply to my life?” For younger kids ask, “What will you do today because of what you read?” Let them fill in the blank, “I Will __________ today.”

  • PRAYER—Ask God to help you. Kids can write out a simple prayer to God or use that spot to list out the things they are praying for. You can find the sheet here:
