KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of August 8th

As we’ve been learning these last few weeks, every follower of Jesus is invited to live out the fruit of the Spirit. Many families in our church support kids throughout the world through Compassion International. Today, we want to recommend a reading plan from the YouVersion Bible app that includes stories from these kids and how they live out the fruit of the Spirit in their corner of the world. In this plan for kids and families, learn what the Bible says about each fruit, read stories of how kids around the world live them out and get practical suggestions about how you can live them out in daily life. Click here to begin or pull up the Bible app on your phone and search for this plan.

In addition to this YouVersion reading plan, we also have our family devotional that accompanies this series. This devotional contains multiple discussion questions that are great for engaging your kids in conversations about each Fruit of the Spirit. The other side of the sheet walks kids through the S.O.A.P. method so that they can learn a simple method for studying ANY passage of Scripture. Use the Scripture passage on the front of the sheet and then follow these steps…

  • SCRIPTURE—Choose a verse or a passage to read. A good place to start is to use the passage listed on the back of the devotional page (see above) that applies to this week’s lesson.

  • OBSERVATION—Write down interesting facts or points you see in this Scripture. This is a great place to ask some who, what, when, where, why questions.

  • APPLICATION—Ask yourself, “How does this apply to my life?” For younger kids ask, “What will you do today because of what you read?” Let them fill in the blank, “I Will __________ today.”

  • PRAYER—Ask God to help you. Kids can write out a simple prayer to God or use that spot to list out the things they are praying for. You can find the sheet here:
