KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of September 12th

We hope that your kids had a great start to the new school year! With the kick off of a new school year, our kids environments are all gearing up for a new focus for these next three weeks. Check it out below:

PRESCHOOL: God is AMAZING! He made the sun in the sky, the animals, the whole world—they’re all His creations. But do you know what God’s most AMAZING creation is? It’s you and me! God made people to be like Him so we can trust and follow Jesus, and be His special friends!

ELEMENTARY: It takes courage to follow God. When parents model courage, talk about courage, point out real life courageous role models and ask their children to share their acts of bravery, courage is cultivated. What’s the outcome? Resilience. Confidence. The ability to stand up against negative peer pressure and saying no to temptations that don’t align with God’s ways. Authenticity is built as fears are faced, knowing God is with you and for you. Lives change as courage builds a trust in God’s power when you know your own isn’t enough. Elementary will be learning these lessons as we take a deeper look at the Tabernacle, Joshua and Jericho, and Judges over the next few weeks.

Today, Elementary is learning about the Tabernacle (Exodus 25:8-9, 40). Kids will learn that God is omnipresent, which means He is everywhere. God wants to be with us and always makes a way to be with His people. We will also learn that God is so holy that His presence is worthy of awe and appreciation. We should honor His presence in every way and not take it for granted. Finally, elementary kids will learn that because of Jesus, we have the privilege of God’s presence at all times. When we have Jesus as our Savior, God sends the Holy Spirit to live inside us, and His presence is always with us.

This week’s resources are listed below. Have a great week!

Elementary Resources

STEP 1: Read the Bible Passage with your kids

Bible Story: The Tabernacle Exodus 25:8-9; 40

God wanted to live and dwell among His people, so He gave Moses specific instructions for building the Tabernacle in order for it to be holy and worthy of His presence. A cloud covered the tent and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. The Israelites followed the cloud of the Lord throughout all of their journeys.

STEP 2: Choose a worship video to sing with your kids

STEP 3: Watch the Video with your Kids

STEP 4: Practice this month’s Bible Verse with your kids.

Memory Verse: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”” Psalm 119:105 NIV

STEP 5: Review with your kids.

Big Idea: God always makes a way to be with us.

This story helps us address three kinds of questions that kids may have. They are our He (God question), our We (people question), and our Me (purpose question) for this week.

Ask Your Kids:

  • Our He Question about God: Where does God live?

  • Our We Question about people: Why is God’s presence special?

  • Our Me Question about our purpose: How do I meet with God?
