KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of November 14th

Hopefully, you and your kids have had time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall colors this past week! As the leaves fall and the temperature drops, we prepare for more time indoors as a family. As always, Northridge Kids loves to come alongside families to recommend resources that will help you intentionally lead your families throughout the week.

Preschool: Preschoolers are discovering the importance of talking to God through prayer as they learn about the story of Samuel. The Bible App for Kids offers some great resources for parents to go along with each of the series that we do. Check out this parent guide to help review with your kids all month long!

Elementary: Last week we shared a resource, called “What’s in the Bible? Volume 7” from RightNow Media. Just a reminder that it is a two part video. Part one covered our lesson from last Sunday on Ezra and Nehemiah. This week kids will be learning about the story of Esther. Part two of the video also covers the story of Esther. You can sign up for a free RightNow Media account by clicking HERE. If you already have an account, just click here or search for “What’s in the Bible?” Volume 7 to watch these awesome videos with your kids.

This week’s resources are listed below. Have a great week!

Preschool Resources

Bible Story: A VOICE IN THE NIGHT — Samuel is called by God

Big Idea: Start your day by praying to God, and talk and listen to Him ALL DAY LONG! Even if you go really far away or visit other places, He’s always listening. This message about Samuel will teach kids that God is always ready to talk with us.

Step 1: Watch the video with your preschoolers.

Step 2: Review with your kids.

Ask your kids: When can you pray? (I can pray all night, all day!)

Step 3: Practice the Memory Verse with your preschoolers.

“Morning, noon, and night ... the LORD hears my voice.” Psalm 55:17 NLT

Step 4: Print the Adventure Guide to use with your preschooler throughout the week.

Elementary Resources

STEP 1: Read the Bible Passage with your kids

Bible Story: Esther • Esther 2-8

Esther was chosen to be the next queen of Persia, but she had a secret, she was Jewish—one of God’s people. When Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, refused to bow down to Haman, the highest ranking official in Persia, Haman plotted to kill all of the Jewish people living in Persia. Esther risked her own life to tell the king about Haman’s plan, and God’s people were saved. God worked through Esther to accomplish His purpose.

STEP 2: Choose a worship video to sing with your kids

STEP 3: Watch the Video with your Kids

STEP 4: Practice this month’s Bible Verse with your kids.

Memory Verse: “No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.” Jeremiah 10:6 NIV

STEP 5: Review with your kids.

Big Idea: God made us for a purpose.

This story helps us address three kinds of questions that kids may have. They are our He (God question), our We (people question), and our Me (purpose question) for this week.

Ask Your Kids:

  • Our He Question about God: Is God really at work through everything?

  • Our We Question about people: Does God have a purpose for everyone?

  • Our Me Question about our purpose: Does God know what He’s doing in my life?
