KiDS Weekly Experience Guide & Parent Cue: week of February 7th
As we kick off a new month on the calendar, our Kids Ministry is also kicking off a new month of curriculum. Here are some details on what your kids will be learning this month:
ELEMENTARY: Great sports moments tend to involve people who accepted a big challenge, one that required courage and an ability to keep going. This month, kids will have fun using sports to learn about the many ways they can say yes to challenges bravely. Jesus accepted many challenges. Through the stories we know about Him, we learn a bunch of things that help kids walk through whatever they are facing. Let’s cheer on every kid to be able to say, Jesus takes care of me, Jesus shows me the truth, Jesus helps me when I'm tempted, and Jesus understands my challenges. We are calling this unit “Challenge Accepted”. To kick off this unit and to have some extra fun on Super Bowl Sunday, we are encouraging our kids to wear their favorite sports jersey or team shirt (ANY sport) TODAY! We can’t wait to learn about how Jesus helps us to face challenges!
PRESCHOOL: Preschoolers will be learning about Jesus’ temptation in the Desert. They will be learning how sin makes our hearts dirty but we can ask Jesus to love and forgive us and He will wash our hearts clean and make our hearts pure. When we resist temptation and say no to sin like Jesus did, we can help keep our hearts pure.
Beginning in March for our online families, we would like to offer a virtual small group experience for kids in Kindergarten-5th grade. Each Sunday, a small group leader will guide a small group of kids through some review and application of that week’s lesson through a zoom call. We will provide the supplies needed for participating in these small group experiences. If you are interested in signing your kids up to be a part of this small group experience, fill our THIS form. Preschool Resources
Bible Story: A Test in the Desert: Jesus is Tempted
Big Idea: Sin makes your heart dirty! Eeew! Ask Jesus for His love and forgiveness. He will wash your heart pure and clean from sins. Stay pure by saying, “No!” to sins, like Jesus did when he was tested in the desert.
Step 1: Watch the video with your preschoolers.
Step 2: Review with your kids.
Ask your kids: What do you say to sins? (I say, “No” to sins!)
Step 3: Practice the Memory Verse with your preschoolers.
Memory Verse: “God, create a pure heart in me. ... ....” Psalm 51:10 NIRV
Step 4: Print the Adventure Guide to use with your preschooler throughout the week.
